Our lives are pathetically and unfairly short. It's actually untenable.

If I could donate the rest of my time to you, I would.

I don't. Imagine you fall in a well or something and get stuck there for eternity.

You're the champion of pessimism for today, my friend.

I share that desire. Any time anyone talks about lifespan, and extending it, there are always those that scream and rave about how lonely or dull things would get. The thing is... If one day you do decide you don't want to live anymore, just jump in a volcano, you know? It's not like anything we'll have the power to do to extend our lifespan will be some irrevocable curse. I want to live as long as I want to live. It's as simple as that. If it's 100 years, or a million, if I then decide I don't want to, then I won't. I want to travel to other planets. I want to fly a ship through brilliant nebulae. I want to directly witness a supernova. I want to know if there is other intelligent life in the universe. Right now, I want to live forever. Edit: There's no such thing as being indestructible, you fools...

Then you should study DNA repair and maintenance and mitochondria stability. The biggest issues with ageing is that DNA doesn't maintain itself long-term and the mitochondria function begins to slow down and cease. Biologists are already close to solving this issue. Some of the creatures with very long lifespans or life spans compared to their closest relatives all either have a slower metabolism which means less times DNA divides which means longer lifespan, or DNA repair like the mole rat which can live in some cases 5x-10x longer than their relatives and tend not to get cancer so easily, and mitochondria repair and sustainability which is why diet, exercise, good sleep, stress management all work to regulate mitochondria health.

OP is understandable. But be careful what you wish for. I would love to be immortal like Vibishina from the Hindu Ramayana: peak adult mental and physical condition, ever free from disease, able to recover from any injury in seconds with no lasting effects, exempt from death or any type of oblivion. Now that's an immortality I can get behind. Other types come with serious monkey's paw consequences.

How old are you? I realized very early in life that living forever in this body would be pure torture

How desperate are you? Are you desperate enough to go get a doctorate and study aging and look for new ways to extent life?

I get to experience the future, and it takes away any time pressure from the present.

Me too. I don't know about us but one day our descendants will have escaped death.

Now that I’m older me too Not in this deteriorating body though (I’m assuming immortality cancels this) But my mind (sense of time is dramatically different now) and spirit are willing We actually can see it in nature The Immortal Jellyfish being the most obvious Some level of invincibility and to be able to circumvent the cruelty of others who may find out would be nice too Seeing that it’s feasible I think gives us insight to a less obvious aspect of reality
